Shopmium, a CPG rebates app was introduced to US audiences in November 2022. In January 2023, I was brought on as the sole visual designer responsible for all US design. I worked with marketing, freelance, influencer, and product teams - overseeing, producing, and delivering design work (both static and video) for DOOH campaigns (including a multi-city tour to accompany one of our favorite pop stars), ads (Meta and Google), social media content, animations, in-app creative, emails, presentations, and design guidelines.
As the Shopmium brand existed on a global scale, our unique challenge was adapting the existing brand for the American market and differentiating ourselves from competitors. I reviewed performance of marketing materials and pivoted as necessary to continuously increase conversions. Weekly newsletters were an excellent way to gauge the viability of new creative approaches as we worked to find our sweet spot. We introduced aspirational lifestyle photography and a playful brand voice to better connect with our users. The expanded color palette allowed for more user-friendly design and ADA compliance. I developed updated US guidelines to ensure brand consistency when working with influencer or external groups, and presented creative changes and results in our monthly global meetings.
Upon acquisition, the US app was nearing 1 Million downloads, with over 500k regular monthly users.
